The whole family will get into the Christmas spirit with these fabulous Christmas events full of carols, market stalls, live entertainment...and the odd visit from Mr Claus all the way from the North Pole!
There's no better way to spend the festive season than by soaking up an incredible atmosphere with family and friends, knowing the kids are well entertained.
Sydney Santa Spectacular
Sydney’s biggest and arguably the most festive Christmas festival returns to Rosehill Gardens Racecourse this December 7-27. The three-week festive extravaganza is home to one of Australia’s largest portable ice skating rinks, imported direct from Italy for a snowy sampling of European Winter in Sydney’s scorching summer heat. There's also a vintage double-decker carousel, a toboggan slide, live stage entertainment, a glittering Santa’s Enchanted Forest with live snowfall, Christmas cookie-decorating workshops, reindeer ride-on training stables, interactive costume characters, fairy reading-times, live caroling, face-painting, special Santa meet-and-greets and much more. Christmas Wonderland, Sydney Showground
Christmas Wonderland Sydney Showground presents Sydneysiders with a Christmas extravaganza not to be missed from December 15-24. Experience the enchantment of a white Christmas with an ice skating rink, snow play area where you can build a snowman or have a snowball fight, enjoy a magical stage show and ice show, and explore the Christmas village and marvel in Candy Cane Lane.
Darling Harbour Christmas Fun
From walking through a giant, oversized decoration to snapping a memorable family selfie in an ugly Christmas jumper to Christmas craft and free Christmas movies, there's so much festive fun to be had at Darling Harbour. Christmas Lights Spectacular
Christmas Lights Spectacular is seriously worth the drive up north if you want to spread the Christmas spirit and joy to children of all ages. Hunter Valley Gardens invites you to explore the Southern Hemisphere’s biggest and most breathtaking display of over 2 million lights, including an incredible princess castle. The entire family will be able to enjoy the festive season with a delicious selection of food and beverage stalls, roaming entertainment including carollers (until Boxing Day), carnival rides, and nightly performances. From 2nd November 2018 until 26th January 2019 (closed Christmas Day).
Lights of Christmas
Deck the halls at St Mary's Cathedral Square, in the heart of Sydney's CBD and enjoy the spectacular free sound and light show every night. It's like Vivid but with a festive spin and the projections just get better and better every year. Find out more here.
The Grounds x Disney's The Nutcracker Christmas
It's the most Instagrammable time of the year at the Grounds of Alexandria! From now until Christmas Eve the Grounds have transformed their laneways into The Land of Snowflakes, Land of Flowers and Land of Sweets with falling snowfall several times a day! Feast on yummy Nutcracker inspired treats and even visit Santa in his magical cave (from 15 December). Find out more here.
Christmas in the City
It's one of the first events to kick off the festive season! On Saturday 24 November from 6.30pm Martin Place will be alive with roaming entertainers, magicians, roller-skating baubles, stage shows, choirs, lights, giveaways and decorations. At this free event for the whole family. see Jimmy Giggle, Justine Clarke, Sam Moran, SplashDance and Nay Nay perform live on stage. Santa will arrive in a brand new sleigh and the Martin Place Christmas Tree will light up at 8.30pm as fireworks illuminate Sydney’s spectacular skyline. Find out more here.

Strathfield Council want you to celebrate the official opening of Bressington Park in conjunction with Strathfield Christmas Carols! On December 8, 2018 bring a picnic rug and sprawl out in the park to enjoy carols, a Christmas movie, fireworks and more. Find out all the details here.
Sydney Christmas Children’s Concert
For the first year ever, treat your kids to a very special concert just for them! On Saturday 1 December from 6.30pm at Prince Alfred Park (Surry Hills) seasons greetings will be performed by Jimmy Giggle, Justine Clarke, Ben and Holly’s Little Kingdom and SplashDance. There's also lots of kid’s activities, table tennis, giant Jenga, showbags and a visit from Santa. Fireworks will light up the sky as the concert comes to a close. Carols In The Domain
Sing with the stars at Australia's largest FREE Christmas concert: Carols in the Domain! At this much-loved annual event on December 22 (at a family-friendly time of 7:45pm), you can expect performances from a variety of artists that will delight families of all ages. Sydney Fish Markets 36-Hour Seafood Marathon
Sydney Fish Market's 36-Hour Seafood Marathon, where retailers will be staying open for 36 hours from 5am Wednesday 23 December right through to 5pm Christmas Eve.
Visitors can come down to enjoy the fun and frenzy of the marathon, stock up on Christmas supplies, enjoy some delicious fresh or cooked seafood, or just sit back and people-watch from the waterside boardwalk.
