Christmas at Darling Harbour 2026: Fireworks, Festive Fun and a Floating Christmas Tree

Christmas is making a splash at Darling Harbour in 2026! Sydney's favourite waterfront playground is getting a festive makeover, with Christmas at Darling Harbour bringing a sparkling lineup of FREE family entertainment, dazzling fireworks and a floating Christmas tree to the city.

From November through to Christmas, Darling Harbour will be bursting with festive cheer, with plenty of opportunities to get the kids into the Christmas spirit without blowing the holiday budget.

See Darling Harbour's Floating Christmas Tree

We're thrilled to hear that the spectacular Floating Christmas Tree is returning to Cockle Bay from 21 November to 26 December. Covered in colourful baubles, the enormous floating tree makes a gorgeous backdrop for festive family photos during the day. But wait until the sun goes down! Thousands of twinkling lights transform the waterfront into a sparkling Christmas wonderland.

Best of all, admiring the tree is completely FREE.

Christmas Fireworks Light Up Cockle Bay

Christmas celebrations are getting an extra dose of sparkle, with Darling Harbour's famous fireworks lighting up the night sky on selected Saturdays in December.

Gather the kids along the waterfront and watch as colourful fireworks explode above Cockle Bay. It's a brilliant way to finish a festive evening in the city, especially after a visit to the floating Christmas tree.

Christmas fireworks dates for 2026:

Saturday 5 December, 9 pm
Saturday 12 December, 9 pm
Saturday 19 December, 9 pm

The displays are FREE to watch, with plenty of viewing spots around Cockle Bay. Fireworks are weather-dependent, so check for updates before heading in.

Christmas Festivals and Free Family Fun

Darling Harbour is also welcoming the Philippines Christmas Festival to Tumbalong Park on 21 and 22 November.

This colourful celebration brings Filipino Christmas traditions to Sydney with lively parades, delicious food and live entertainment. There'll also be competitions and games to get families involved.

Running from 9 am to 8 pm on both days, the festival is completely FREE to enter.

Darling Harbour is also promoting the return of its much-loved Christmas Fest celebrations, with more details of the 2026 activities and entertainment still to be announced.

Magical Christmas Shows at ICC Sydney

For families who love a festive stage spectacular, there's even more Christmas entertainment on the calendar.

The Greatest Christmas Show 2026 is coming to ICC Sydney on Sunday 13 December, bringing dazzling aerial performances, mind-bending illusions and plenty of festive favourites to the stage.

Expect spectacular costumes, talented dancers and a special appearance from Santa himself!

Two performances run at 3.30 pm and 7.30 pm, with tickets from $49.90.

Darling Harbour's Christmas program also includes festive film concerts and theatre productions throughout December, with something for older audiences to enjoy too.
