The Ian Thorpe Aquatic and Fitness Centre in Ultimo offers a range of health and aquatic programs and services to cater for all swimming abilities, fitness needs, and indoor activities.

This iconic $40-million facility, which is housed in a distinctive wave-form building, was named in honour of five-time gold medal-winning Olympic champion, Ian Thorpe. Services include personal training, group fitness, aquatic education (learn-to-swim), squad training, personal health services, and school programs. Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre is open all year round with the exception of Good Friday and Christmas Day.

Indoor Swimming Pools

Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre is home to three heated, indoor pools including a 50-metre pool, a leisure pool with a spa, and a dedicated program pool. Great for having a splash around in or doing laps to keep your fitness levels up. Kids and Adult swimming lessons are also available.

The fitness centre at Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre is fitted out with state-of-the-art machines and equipment, a new gym floor layout, and a new group fitness timetable.

Market-leading machines and equipment: All machines have been upgraded to the latest models from Matrix, including pin-loaded strength machines, free weights and cardio.
Enhanced group fitness experience: For BODYPUMP enthusiasts, the Les Mills SMARTBAR will power up your performance in class, and Matrix spin bikes offer a smooth ride.
High-performance flooring: Multi-purpose flooring, with high-grip technology, is engineered to tackle the toughest of workouts. Dedicated stretch and HIIT zones feature a synthetic indoor turf.

Opening Hours

Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre is open Monday to Sunday from 6 am to 8 pm.

Leisure Pool - Daily 9 am to 8 pm
Fitness Centre - Weekends 6 am - 4 pm
Sauna And Steam Room - Daily 6 am - 7:30 pm

Closed on Good Friday and Christmas Day

Getting to Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre

Parking: Carpark on-site – Entrance is from Pyrmont Street.
Trains: The Light Rail stops outside the pool.
Ferries: Darling Harbour is the nearest wharf.
