It's the million-dollar question on everyone's lips: will the Sydney fireworks be cancelled this year? The answer: no!
Sydney is a city that loves to celebrate, especially when it comes to our world-famous Sydney New Year's Eve celebrations, and after the year that was, we need to farewell 2021 with more gusto than ever! Sydney is going to put on a spectacular fireworks display for Sydney New Year's Eve 2021, but, this year's celebrations are going to be a little different.

New Year's Eve Tickets are Essential
If you're planning on heading to the city to catch the fireworks this year, there will be plenty of vantage points to ring in 2022 but this year's New Year's celebrations will be a ticketed event.
New Year's Eve tickets are both free and priced but will need to be purchased in advance on the City of Sydney website from Monday 8 November. To secure your spot at your favourite vantage point simply click on the links below to book your tickets - hurry, they won't last long!
Sydney New Year's Eve Fireworks Vantage Points
The city will be lit up in all her glory from a number of vantage points this year for the usual 9 pm and 12 pm fireworks:
- Botanic Garden: Bridgeview
- Botanic Garden: NYE Picnic
- Campbells Cove
- Circular Quay Wharf 2
- Dawes Point
- East Circular Quay
- Hickson Road Reserve
- West Circular Quay
Sadly, there will be no fireworks display at 9 pm or 12 pm at Darling Harbour this year.

Dudley Page Reserve - Dover Heights, Strickland House - Vaucluse, Duff Reserve - Point Piper, McKell Park or Yarranabbe Park - Darling Point.
Illoura Reserve - Balmain, Birchgrove Park - Birchgrove, Lookes Avenue Reserve - Balmain East, Simmons Point - Balmain East.
Bradleys Head - Sydney Harbour National Park, Taronga Zoo – Mosman. Blues Point Reserve in McMahon’s Point and Bradfield Park in North Sydney.
New Year's Eve Events
If you're keen to celebrate in style, there will be a number of New Year's Eve events happening throughout the city and beyond.
The City of Parramatta is set to see the year out with a bang, presenting five epic fireworks displays on NYE. Kick-off 2022 in a frenzy of light and colour at one of five different parks throughout the City. The family-friendly events will open from 5pm with live entertainment in the lead up to the 9pm fireworks. Pack a picnic or grab a bite from the food trucks while you soak up the atmosphere.
Cost: Tickets are $5 per adult and kids are FREE.
Indulge in a weekend in the heart of Sydney just steps from the New Year’s Eve festivities. Mode Kitchen & Bar at Four Seasons Hotel Sydney will be hosting three-course and four-course New Year’s Eve Dinner seatings with exclusive access to the world-famous Sydney fireworks at First Fleet Park. Plus, you can welcome 2022 in pure luxury in a Deluxe City King Room and wake up to a gourmet breakfast for two. Atelier by Sofitel at Darling Harbour will host a delicious four-course feast prepared by Executive Chef Eric Costille. There is a special two-course menu for kids.

ELEVATE Sydney is one of the biggest New Year's Eve events we've seen in a long time! For the first time in Sydney history, the entire Cahill Expressway will be closed for a six-day festival to ring in 2022. ELEVATE Sydney will feature six days of music and entertainment from over 180 performers from 1 to 6 January 2022. The free festival is a must-do New Year's Eve event to celebrate the start of a brand-new year and the opening up of Sydney post-COVID.
New Year's Eve at Sailmaker Restaurant will be putting on fine-dining festivities with a scrumptious menu of charcuterie platters, fresh seafood, seasonal mains and more.
Cost: $199 per adult; $89 for kids
For the ultimate vantage point for the Sydney New Year's Eve fireworks, you can book a table at Pier One Sydney Harbour. Tables and private dining areas will be available on the night for premium drinking and dining overlooking the water and the best views of the Harbour Bridge Fireworks in Sydney.
Cost: $199 per adult
If you're keen to ring in the New Year literally in the harbour, then book into a Sydney New Year's Eve cruise. There are a number of New Year's Eve cruises offering celebrations to ring in 2022 including Prestige Harbour Cruises, Cardman Cruises, Captain Cook Cruises, Glass Island New Year's Eve Cruise (18+), MV Sydney 2000 and more.

New Year's at Taronga Zoo - Enjoy a wild New Rear's Eve at Taronga Zoo with spectacular views of the harbour and midnight fireworks, live entertainment and the chance to experience wildlife until dark on your NYE trail. Renowned as one of the most memorable foreshore venues for the big night, families can enjoy a fun, safe celebration in relaxed surroundings. You can bring your own picnic or purchase food and drinks on-site.
