Unique Day Date Ideas
1. Axe Throwing
Blowing off some steam with your partner should be part of any good date, therefore kill two birds (please don’t kill any birds!) with a spot of axe throwing.
There are a range of places in Sydney that you can bury the hatchet and it makes for an adrenalin-filled date that is, of course, very safe and fun. And the best part is comfortable clothes and shoes are a must for this date!
Locations: Multiple across Sydney - check out our guide to Sydney's best axe-throwing venues.
2. Couples Floating at City Cave
For the couple that needs to escape to a world of relaxation, why not consider a float tank? At City Cave, you can do a couple’s float in a warm pool the size of a double bed.
The pools are filled with 400kg of Epsom salts which are meant to heal the body, reduce stress and anxiety, and send any thoughts of the kids/work/lunch boxes into a galaxy far, far away. Ahhhhh bliss.
Locations: Multiple across Sydney - visit City Cave to find a venue near you.
3.Holey Moley
For a hole in one date, why not act like big kids at Holey Moley? Get competitive with your partner as you tee off with two mini golf courses across 18 uniquely themed holes.
Afterwards you can grab a sneaky cocktail from the Caddyshack and sink into a delicious burger, pizza or hotdog. Make sure you delete the selfies from your phone as the kids will be green with envy!
Location: 82-94 Darlinghurst Road Potts Point
4. Hijinx Hotel
For unique day date ideas in Sydney, "check into" the Hijinx Hotel - a quirky Willy Wonka-esque-themed hotel where you can play a multitude of games with your partner.
Upon arrival, you will be assigned five different challenges (such as throwing a basketball through a hoop, the Floor is Lava, Twister, or remembering song patterns on a giant piano) and you’ll compete against your partner to score the most points. After all those hi-jinks you can grab a bite to eat and a grown-up drink at the bar too.
Location: 75 O'Riordan St, Alexandria
5. Pottery Date
Who hasn't wanted to live out a Patrick Swayze/Demi Moore in Ghost fantasy with their partner? You can do this at one of Sydney's pottery studios.
Take the wheel at a huge variety of venues across Sydney, many offering small group classes during the day or evening for adults, often led by specialist tutors and practising artists. You never know, you might even churn out a beautiful souvenir of your date to take home.
