In this cute and colourful Randwick-based studio, your children can unleash the wildest corners of their imagination by exploring clay-making, drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, recycled art, and printmaking. They’re also officially allowed (even obliged) to make a big, fun mess around them!

For little ones keen to get their hands dirty but who aren't quite ready for the wheel yet, the Clay Family Workshop at Little Ginger Studio is perfect. Join the Little Ginger Studio team for a relaxed clay play session using airdry paper clay and simple clay-building techniques to create cute sculptures such as pinch pot animals, coil trinket pots, love-heart decorations and more.

5. Silky Shapes Studio

The Silky Shapes Studio in Crows Nest host regular pottery classes in Sydney suitable for children from age 12 and adults too.

The beginners' pottery class package consists of three two-hour classes, where you learn to throw, trim and glaze basic cylindrical pieces of pottery. The three pottery classes are spread over the span of three weeks to allow time for your pottery to dry and get fired. For a three-class package including materials, it will cost $180.

They will also organise an event for a group of children aged below 12 if you call them and ask!

7. Something At Mary’s  

Something At Mary’s is an intimate studio in Bundeena that caters for smaller groups and individual pottery classes.

All courses include the tutor’s instructions, equipment, materials and firing costs. Their family class (daily at 10 am for 2.5hrs) is a great idea for a fun family weekend outing, taking advantage of the beautiful Royal National Park nearby!

Called Smushing Platter Project, this workshop allows the whole family to participate in making handmade food platters (each student will create their own). Cost: $120 per participating family member.
