If you’ve ever dreamt of running through a field of lovely purple lavender, lavender farms in NSW are definitely a thing and are open to the public! 

Wonder what lavender is good for? From curing headaches to assisting with insomnia, mental health issues, and even hair loss, there isn't much lavender can’t do! Lavender is part of the mint family and is a gloriously colourful flowering plant with some impressive health benefits and aromatherapy perks, not to mention it smells incredible!

The Best Time to Visit Lavender Farms

Peak lavender season in NSW is usually throughout December and January when they are in full glorious bloom. If you're keen to peruse the purple blooms before then, some lavender farms get ready for the lavender season in October, and some farms are open all year round! 

1. Hunter Lavender Farm

Just a couple of hours outside of Sydney in the picturesque Hunter Valley Region, Hunter Lavender Farm is one of the newer farms in NSW growing glorious lavender bushes.

Hunter Lavender Farm opened its doors in 2022 and has already attracted quite a loyal following of lavender lovers who can't get enough of their organic lavender products and tours of their stunning fields.  

The farm is officially reopening for the second lavender season on 9 December 2023, when you can run through the lavender fields to your heart's content. Bookings are essential.

2. Little Willow Lavender

If the adorable name is not enough to entice you to visit, then the gorgeous setting and abundance of lavender products at Little Willow should!

Located in the fertile Liverpool Plains of NSW, Little Willow Lavender offers seven acres of gorgeous fields and farmland, some of which are taken over by thriving lavender bushes during lavender season. 

The team at Little Willow Lavender is part of the Australian Lavender Growers Association (TALGA) and harvests all their lavender for a wide range of organic products, including essential oils, heat packs, soaps, body butter, soy candles, lavender honey and plenty more. All products are available to purchase on-site.

3. Blue Mountains Lavender

Another lavender farm close to Sydney, Blue Mountains Lavender makes the most of the fertile soil and excellent growing conditions of the stunning Blue Mountains region to grow their lavender.

Located in the foothills of the Blue Mountains at 800 metres altitude, Blue Mountains Lavender welcomes guests with rolling lawns of fresh lavender during the summer months. Along with offering farm tours, the team at Blue Mountains Lavender harvests their crops for their own essential oils, which are available to purchase.

4. Maryvale Lavender Farm

Here's your chance to see a working lavender farm in action!

Maryvale Lavender Farm is located in Coolagolite on the stunning Sapphire Coast and is home to an impressive 10,000 lavender plants.

The farm is also home to gorgeous macadamia trees, pecan trees, fruit trees and tonnes of antique collectibles for antique fans.

Visitors to the farm are welcome to drop in at any time of the year and can go home with quite a nice handful of locally made lavender products as well as jams, pickles, candles and even glass goods - just make sure you call ahead before you pop in!

5. Rustique Lavender Farm

Planning a road trip to Wagga Wagga? Stop off at Rustique Lavender Farm on your way.

If you're looking to stretch your driving legs and head a bit further afield, Rustique Lavender Farm near Wagga Wagga is a charming and rustic country outing.

Growing plenty of lavender and heritage roses to ogle the eyes, a trip to Rustique Lavender Farm will get the family off the beaten track and out into pure nature for a few hours.

All Rustique's handmade lavender products are available at the gift shop and who knows, you might get a visit from some of their friendly alpacas while visiting!

6. Wyoming Lavender Estate

If you're heading up north for a holiday, we highly recommend adding Wyoming Lavender Estate to your road trip itinerary.

Located around six hours north of Sydney, the lavender farm grows, harvests and distills all their own lavender in picturesque Mount Russell.

Their farm doors are usually open from Monday to Saturday (9.30 am to 2.30 pm), plus they sell the most beautiful pure lavender essential oils, dried lavender, personal care items, and gifts.
