Sydney❜s Top 10 Attractions As Voted By YOU

  • All Ages

Our readers love attractions! We recently sent out a survey to the ellaslist database and received an overwhelmingly positive response to Sydney attractions. It seems you love them as much as playgrounds and babycinos and free parking. It's no wonder though, Sydney has some amazing venues, museums and iconic hot spots that are loved by tourists and locals alike. With the data from our survey, we have put together this top 10 list as voted by you. In my best Grant Denyer voice, the survey says....

1. Sea Life Sydney Aquarium

Get up close with creatures of the underwater at Darling Harbour's very own aquarium. It seems you love their penguins, sharks, dugongs and more - because once never seems to be enough! Find out how you can save big on multiple attractions with a Sydney Big Ticket. We are super excited about the new Great Barrier Reef exhibit opening in November, where the reef is recreated across 24 hours of the day. Walk across bioluminescent beaches, journey through jellyfish garden and witness the phenomenon of coral spawning on the glowing night time reef. As the sun rises, travel through the heart of a busy and brightly coloured day time reef to meet the new marine turtles. Guests will also learn about the changes we can make to protect Australia’s greatest natural wonder.

2. Taronga Zoo

Lions and tigers and bears, oh my! You can't call yourself a Sydneysider without visiting the iconic harbour zoo at least once. There's always something on for kids of all ages, from the Wild Ropes course to the new Sumatran tiger exhibit. And stay tuned for the new giraffe enclosure, by all reports it will be an African Savannah extravaganza! Since you really love it we suggest arming yourself with an annual pass because Taronga Zoo will call your name many times a year...

3. Centennial Parklands

Whether it's picnicking, horse riding, bike riding or exploring the awesome Wild Play garden, this park is a favourite of young and old - and probably always will be. Never change, Centennial!

4. Luna Park

It's big, it's iconic, it's free. We love Luna Park as much as you do too. It's got that classic amusement park feel, paying homage to its origins having opened in the 1930s, with classic rides and games, but also lots of new things like ice-skating as part of the annual Winterfest and a rooftop cinema in summer!

5. Calmsley Hill City Farm

This lovable 400 acre farm attraction is located less than an hour from the centre of Sydney's CBD. We love feeding the animals, riding the tractor, even cracking the whip! Read all about out our recent adventure to the farm here.

6. Royal Botanic Gardens Sydney

Not all attractions cost an arm and a leg! This one is free and is loved by so many. Check out the winter program for kids, explore the native flora or just relax and enjoy the view (with free WiFi, thank you). We love these gardens!

7. Featherdale Wildlife Park

See the cute, the feathery, the furry and the wild creatures at this unique wildlife park home to the world’s largest collection of native Australian animals! And if you haven't been yet, now is the best time to go - take advantage of free entry for kids during July!

8. Powerhouse Museum

It's got to be one of the most kid-friendly museums in town, no wonder you love it! With the coolest exhibitions for school-aged kids, the most interactive stuff for younger kids, and did we mention the Wiggles exhibit for tiny tots? Also, they have steam trains. What's not to love?!

9. Wet 'n' Wild Sydney

One for the warmer months, this water park out west is loved by big kids looking for thrills, and even little kids looking for spills at the dedicated toddler beach area. We can't wait for it to re-open in September!

10. Museum Of Contemporary Art Sydney

The museum with the best view in town, we love that it caters to art lovers of all ages, even babies! Check out their Art Baby events. There's also lots on for kids of all ages with hands-on exhibits, art making programs, tours and more. No wonder you love it!
