- Family
After months of restrictions, freedom is on the horizon! There's a little flickering light at the end of the long, lockdown tunnel and things are looking up. Finally, we can start to imagine life beyond our four walls and, better still, start planning for it!
As we begin to map out our exciting return to the new normal, here are five top things we can't wait to do post-lockdown.
1. Hit The Road For Tamworth's Toyota Country Music Festival
Can’t wait to kick up your boot-scootin' heels post-lockdown? Start the new year right at the legendary Tamworth Country Music Festival and join their 50th birthday celebrations. If you need a light at the end of the lockdown tunnel, plan your school holiday family adventure to one of the biggest parties of the year. Tamworth will come alive with musical magic over 10 action-packed days that will showcase a huge line-up of talent including hundreds of performers and thousands of free and ticketed gigs. Plus, the kids are in for a wild ride with a ton of family highlights. The carnival-inspired Family Zone will be bursting with fun, talented buskers and street performers will transform Peel Street into a vibrant fiesta while fire performers, unicyclists, comedians, contortionists and circus acts will enthral audiences at The Festival Fringe. The Tamworth Country Music Festival will take over the town and there is so much more to explore, including the award-winning Tamworth Regional Playground! Plan your road trip now!

2. Experience The New Rides At Luna Park
Just as it was set to reveal a whopping $30 million renovation at a massive relaunch extravaganza, the pandemic wiped the smile off one of Sydney’s most famous faces, but Luna Park is planning a major comeback and we can’t wait to let our hair down at the new-look amusement park. From 23rd October, the harbourside icon will open on Saturdays and Sundays and can finally unveil its nine thrilling new rides including an awesome roller coaster. A must-do for thrill-seekers, The Big Dipper is Australia’s tallest and fastest multi-launch coaster and first inline seating launch roller coaster in the world. Get ready to scream! Tickets are available now.
3. Visit France For A Day At The Bastille Festival Sydney
For four days in December, a stroll through Sydney’s Circular Quay will transport you to the Champs-Élysées! After the annual cultural celebration of all things French was cancelled last year, the fabulous Bastille Festival is ready to make an arc-de-triomphant return this summer with an immersive array of food, wine and art. Take a ‘Tour de France’ through the country’s acclaimed vineyards with tastings from six wine bars then travel with your tastebuds exploring regional cuisines like raclette, crepes, freshly baked baguettes, cheeses and flammekueche. Oui oui!
4. Take The Kids On A Glamping Adventure
After months of lockdown, a wild adventure is calling and a fun family camp out is the remedy we need to shake off the iso blues. While we love the starry skies, open fires, and wondrous wilderness that is synonymous with going bush, we feel like we’ve earned ourselves a little luxury and these top places to take kids glamping are the best of both worlds. While we're still spending our days closer to home, these idyllic escapes from Taronga Zoo and Cockatoo Island to Jervis Bay and the Blue Mountains, will satisfy your wanderlust and do it in style!
5. Trip The Light Fantastic At VIVID
It’s still months away, but after two years of darkness, we can't wait for Sydney’s most illuminating festival to light up the night again! VIVID, one of the country's most extraordinary free public events has been hit hard by the pandemic with cancellations in both 2020 and 2021 - and we've really missed it! Thankfully, the luminous outdoor extravaganza is set to make a stellar return in May 2022, again transforming the harbour city into a luminous cultural and creative multi-sensory wonderland. With preparations already underway, the spectacular festival will shine brighter than ever next year with an awe-inspiring landscape of art installations and 3D projections to celebrate its comeback!
Another festival of light, Nature Illuminated: The Life of The Seasons, will turn Sydney’s Chinese Garden of Friendship into an enchanting open-air dreamland of colour, music and wonder from January to March.
