New Lake Foreshore Playground is About to Become a Family Favourite

A huge new lakeside playground is opening in Sydney's Hills District, giving families another reason to pack a picnic and head west for the day.

The Gables Lake Foreshore officially opens in July beside Stockland Gables Town Centre. Set around a four-hectare lake, the new precinct brings play spaces and waterfront paths together in one generous patch of parkland.

A Whopping Five Playgrounds For the Community

One playground can keep children occupied for an hour. Five playgrounds could turn a quick visit into an entire day out!

The new playground at The Gables Lake Foreshore means there are now FIVE playgrounds in total spread across The Gables community. There's also a new basketball half-court adjacent to the new playgrounds that's perfect for the older kids. Plus, scenic walking tracks will wind through the precinct, connected by pathways that make it easy to explore on foot or with a pram.

The Gables is Already Packed With Outdoor Spaces

The new Lake Foreshore joins an expanding collection of family facilities across The Gables.

The broader community already has four playgrounds, with further play areas planned as the neighbourhood grows. There are also hectares of green space linked by interconnected walking paths, giving local families plenty of opportunities to ride scooters or head outside without needing to pile everyone into the car.

Elsewhere in the development, the Central Playing Fields precinct caters to children who prefer wheels, balls or something involving a little more height. It includes sports fields and basketball courts, along with a skate park, a rock-climbing structure and another playground. A fenced dog park sits nearby, while an amenities building provides restrooms, change rooms and a canteen.

These facilities are spread throughout the wider Gables community rather than grouped at the lake, but they make the foreshore part of a much larger outdoor network for local families.

Make a Day of it at the Town Centre

The Gables Lake Foreshore's location beside Stockland Gables Town Centre takes some pressure off the family picnic checklist.

The town centre brings shops and places to eat together with medical services and other everyday essentials. Families can pick up food before walking down to the foreshore, or retreat indoors when someone needs a bathroom, a warmer layer or a second lunch.

Bring the Dog Along

Four-legged family members have also been invited to explore the new Lake Foreshore. The boardwalks and open green space offer plenty to investigate, although dogs should remain supervised and owners will need to follow any signs displayed around the playgrounds or lake.

Celebrate at the Opening Weekend

The Gables Lake Foreshore will make its official debut with a free community celebration on Sunday, 19 July from 10 am to 2 pm.

The afternoon will include live music and children's activities, with arts and crafts running alongside face painting. Basketball competitions will put the new half-court straight to work, while the five playgrounds will be ready for their first enthusiastic visitors.

Families can bring their own picnic or collect something from the nearby town centre. There will be ample lawn for settling in by the lake between activities. Registration is available through the official Facebook event page.
