Karts District is Bringing Real-Life Mario Kart to Sydney
Put down the controller, because Sydney's newest gaming arena is taking the action off the screen and putting it right under your wheels. Karts District is set to bring high-speed electric karting, augmented reality racing and immersive gaming together in one seriously charged-up venue.
A Real-Life Mario Kart Races Into Sydney
If your kids have ever wished Mario Kart existed in real life, this is about as close as it gets. Karts District's headline attraction is a huge 600-square-metre augmented-reality racing arena, where up to 10 electric karts race across a responsive digital track filled with virtual obstacles, coins, boosters, and changing worlds.
Instead of looping the same old circuit, racers will tear through holographic courses that shift around the arena. One session might send you dodging projected obstacles, while the next has you chasing power-ups through a completely different world.
Each race runs for 15 minutes, with five racing worlds to try and software that transforms the arena into a fresh course. Speed helps, obviously, but quick reactions, sharp turns and a bit of gamer instinct will get you much further.
More Games Waiting Off the Track
The action keeps going once the race is over, with a stack of immersive experiences built for kids, teens and grown-ups who still get wildly competitive.
X Space is a free-roam VR shooting arena where up to six players can move through the game together without wires getting in the way.
Beat Hero brings music and combat into one high-energy challenge, while Space Ride sends players through the cosmos inside a next-generation simulator pod.
Racing fans can also test their skills on professional simulators, try a flight experience, or jump into Super 360 Flight, a rotating 360-degree adventure ride made for two.
Sydney's Next Big Indoor Adventure
With six gaming worlds under one roof, Karts District is shaping up to be a huge new option for birthdays, school holiday outings, team building days, rainy-day plans and family challenges where bragging rights are absolutely on the line.
Race, shoot, fly or battle your way through it — just don't be surprised if the adults get as into it as the kids!
