Did you hear the news? The old Darling Harbour Playground has received a major glow-up and is open and ready for exploring!
If it's been a few months since you last visited Darling Harbour, it's time to hop in the car or on the train and visit one of Sydney's newest and more exciting play areas.
Darling Harbour Playground Gets a Glow-Up
It's out with (some of) the old and in with the new at this epic new playground. A complete overhaul took place over several months to bring in even more thrills and adventures for Sydney kids. While some of the familiar charms of the old Darling Quarter Playground remain such as balance ropes, water play, and the epic 21-metre flying fox, the new additions to the playground have elevated this space to hero levels.
New Darling Harbour Playground Features
The playground includes:
- balance ropes
- giant slide with tunnels and other slides
- water fountains and water features
- water scoopers and screws and dams
- spiders web climbing frames
- a giant ring swing and superlong swings
- sandpit with sand digger
- supernova roundabout
- a long 21-metre flying fox
- several giant slides
- tunnels to explore.

Along with the new playground, Darling Harbour's lineup of attractions is epic, to say the least. While you're in the area make sure you save some time to visit the tranquil Chinese Garden of Friendship, the (also new) IMAX Theatre, the retro Darling Harbour Carousel, The Sea Museum, Monkey Baa Theatre, SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium, WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo, Madam Tussauds, and others.
