Science In The Swamp: Celebrate Science Week at Centennial Park
Looking for a fun, FREE family day out? Back by popular demand, Science in the Swamp is returning to Centennial Park this Sunday 16 August to celebrate National Science Week! It's a huge day of fun featuring dinosaurs, slime-making, experiments, wildlife, live shows and hands-on activities.
Science in the Swamp is an interactive experience designed to ignite the kids’ imaginations. Jam-packed full of science, discovery and fun, let your curiosity guide you as Dickens Lawn transforms into a pop-up village of scientific delights with over 40 awe-inspiring stalls and activity stations.
Science In The Swamp Highlights
Let your inner scientist run wild through hands-on, family-friendly activities and attractions including:
- UNSW Science Village – The biggest science precinct at the event, featuring slime-making, psychology experiments, astronomy, wildlife encounters, engineering, maths and hands-on STEM activities.
- Meet Ginger and the Baby Dinosaurs – Meet Ginger the life-sized dinosaur and get your photo taken with baby dinosaurs.
- Creative Science Live Show – Exciting science demonstrations featuring liquid nitrogen, audience participation and plenty of laughs.
- Daytime Astronomy – View the sun safely through specialist solar telescopes with astronomers from Blue Mountains Stargazing.
- Wildlife Encounters – Meet native animals including frogs, bats, birds, reptiles and mammals.
- Rooftop Bees – Watch a live observation hive, learn about pollinators and taste local honey.
- Green Room – Hands-on nature play, bushcraft, propagation and environmental activities led by Greater Sydney Parklands Education Rangers.
- Giant Bubble Station – Create giant bubbles and foam clouds in this interactive family zone.
- Meet a Scientist – Chat with scientists and researchers from universities and science organisations.
With food trucks, picnic areas and engaging activities the whole family will enjoy, you can enjoy a full day of hands-on learning and fun in beautiful Centennial Park.
