Take the kids on a journey through centuries of storytelling this school holidays with Avatar: Forms of Vishnu, a spectacular new exhibition at the Art Gallery of New South Wales. Exclusive to Sydney, this is the largest presentation of South and Southeast Asian art seen at AGNSW in over 20 years, and it's unlike anything else on in the city right now.

More than 200 dazzling works (sculpture, painting, textiles, photography and large-scale contemporary installations) bring to life a cast of legendary shape-shifting characters, from a giant fish and a wise tortoise, to a beloved hero-prince and a fearsome half-man, half-lion figure.

It's a feast of colour, myth and imagination that captivates young explorers as much as art lovers, with pieces borrowed from renowned collections across Australia, India, Cambodia, Switzerland and the UK.

Why not combine your visit to the Art Gallery with a Sydney CBD day out? The Domain and the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney are right on the doorstep of the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
