Mesmerising Mazes in Sydney & Beyond
1. Neild Avenue Maze
Did you know there's a maze right in the heart of Sydney?!
Neild Avenue Maze in Paddington might not be the biggest of mazes in NSW, but it's certainly worth a look if you're in the area.
Located on Neild Avenue in Paddington, this adorable maze was built in the early 1980s and is tucked away in the backstreets of Paddington and has become something of a secret hidden gem in Sydney.
Location: 7 Neild Ave, Paddington
2. Amazement Maze

The Amazement Fun Park & Farm is a bit of a paradise for families. As well as a farm animal petting zoo, pony rides, horse and cart rides, giant board games and an awesome kid's playground, you'll find multiple magical mazes.

Location: 170 Yarramalong Road, Wyong Creek
3. Granties Maze
Distance from Sydney: 2 hours
Granties Maze is a simplistic fun park with an 18-hole mini-golf course, a sand digger that kids can have a go at, paddle boats, archery, ponies, bumper cars, a merry-go-round, and a maze made of 2,000 photinias trees - impressive!
Location: Princes Highway, Foxground
4. Harper's Mansion
Distance from Sydney: 1.5 hours
The two-acre grounds of this circa-1835 mansion are home to a beautiful maze. While it's not the biggest on our list, it's a real beauty, sharing its abode with rose gardens and herb, fruit and veggie patches.
Location: 9 Wilkinson Street, Berrima
5. Bago Maze
Distance from Sydney: 4 hours
This is the largest maze in NSW, covering 10,000m 2! Nestled in the Bago Vineyards, this two-metre tall maze can take anywhere from 20 minutes to one hour to complete, depending on your escape-artist capabilities. You can even take the Bago Maze Challenge, where you will have to search for hidden items and musical instruments within the maze, and cross bridges and boardwalks built deep within the green labyrinth.
Location: Milligans Road, Wauchope
6. Mayfield Garden
Distance from Sydney: 3 hours
Bloomin' magical! At Mayfield Garden, there is so much for families to see and do: a huge plant nursery, roaming chickens, a worm farm, an onsite cafe with a paddock-to-plate menu, farm animals, a giant chessboard, man-made waterfalls and a huge European-inspired maze! Once you reach the middle of the legendary Mayfield Maze, ring the victory bell!
Mayfield is located roughly 3 hours from Sydney or 40 minutes from Bathurst, so make a country weekend of it! Mayfield regularly hold seasonal festivals, so make sure you check their website for what's on before you plan your visit.
Location: 530 Mayfield Road, Oberon
7. Merribee Gardens
Distance from Sydney: 2.5 hours
Feel like you're exploring the French countryside at the magical Merribee Gardens.
Located in Numbaa in the stunning Shoalhaven region, Merribee Gardens was formally a dairy farm until 2000 when it was transformed it into 7 acres of absolutely spellbinding gardens, including The Secret Garden, The Parterre Garden, The Bay Room, The Italian Garden, The Edible Garden, Apothecary Gardens, and stunning Rose Gardens.
The artistic maze of Buxus microphylla isn't as tall as other mazes in NSW so don't expect to challenge your friends to a who-can-come-out-the-end quicker game! Merribee's Dordogne Garde is more of a large hedge with over 10,000 buxus (boxwood) plants that has been artistically shaped over many years and is quite breathtaking.
Merribee is open every Wednesday during spring, summer and autumn for garden tours, garden classes, nursery, produce and The Store – a tea house that serves refreshments, and a light lunch.
Location: 660 Comerong Island Road, Numbaa
