Step Into a Magical Fairytale at Sorensen❜s Glasshouse & Gardens

There's just something enchanting about glasshouses, isn't there? We don't know whether it's because you're stepping into a building made almost entirely out of glass or the whimsical light created by the sun dancing through the sheer windows, but there's no denying we're all intrigued by glasshouses.

Like stepping into a magical fairytale, Sorensen's Glasshouse & Gardens has an intriguing history and attracts visitors from far and wide who come for the enchanting atmosphere and stay for the delicious coffee.

Sorensen's Glasshouse & Gardens in Leura

Sorensen's Glasshouse
Sorensen's was revamped in 2019 by Alexandra Munro and John Klugt.

The Sorensen's Glasshouse that exists today is a nursery reborn. Sorensen's Glasshouse was established way back in 1920 by renowned Danish-born landscape gardener Paul Sorensen. Sorensen lived on the property with his family and his incredible influence on Blue Mountains gardens remains a talking point in the region to this day. The property closed in 1989, six years after Sorensen's death but was bought and transformed into a thriving cafe and nursery in 2019.

Alexandra Munro and her partner, John Klugt were literally strolling past the property when they saw a for-sale sign and the rest, as they say, is history! The couple (who have a background in gardening and cafe ownership) transformed the dilapidated glasshouse into Sorensen's Glasshouse & Gardens, which has become one of the most popular (and attractive) cafes in the Blue Mountains.

The menu at Sorensen's is simple yet reflects the beauty of the Blue Mountains region. The delicious coffees come from local, ethically-sourced Little Coffee Co, while they source local produce to make their colourful sweet and savoury creations. Their dishes look as bright and colourful as their interior and include favourites such as Belgian waffles, mountain harvest bowls, house-made granola, and slow-cooked beef brisket burgers.

Sorensen's will occasionally put on special high teas and if you're keen to hold your wedding or other events in the stunning location, contact the team to see what their event options are.
