The family that turned a small water park in the Illawarra into one of NSW's most loved family destinations has just set its sights on Sydney. Sydney Action Park is coming, and the family behind Jamberoo, one of NSW's most beloved water parks, is at the helm.

In a blockbuster announcement, the Eddy family, founders of Jamberoo Action Park, have acquired Raging Waters Sydney in Prospect and will relaunch the site as Sydney Action Park. Jamberoo founder Jim Eddy confirmed the news, revealing the family settled the deal just four weeks ago after approximately 12 months of negotiations.

Raging Waters is Becoming Sydney Action Park Under New Jamberoo Ownership

For Jim Eddy, this has been a long time coming. Speaking with Channel 9, he said his team had been monitoring the Raging Waters site since it opened in December 2012, and that in recent years, social media reviews and guest feedback made it clear the park was struggling. Jamberoo made their move about 12 months ago, put in an offer, and worked through what Eddy described as a "pretty complicated" deal before settling four weeks ago.

For a family that has spent more than 45 years building Jamberoo into one of NSW's most loved family destinations, the acquisition is their biggest leap yet.

What's Changing at Sydney Action Park

What's next for Raging Waters?

The transformation is already underway, and the vision is ambitious. Here's what Jim Eddy has confirmed:

Sanderson Theming has been commissioned to develop new theming for the park, drawing inspiration from Sydney's iconic landmarks and weaving them into its design. Extensive landscaping is also planned — a signature strength of Jamberoo — to soften the environment and make it feel far more welcoming than the current site.

On the events front, Kim Boss from Sold Out Events has been brought in to develop an event strategy for Sydney Action Park, reviving the kind of programming the original park ran when it first opened.

When Does Sydney Action Park Open?

The team has only 14 weeks to get the park ready for opening day, with work happening around the clock to meet that deadline. If you're doing the maths, that puts the opening somewhere around mid-September 2026 — right in time for the spring school holidays.

This is genuinely exciting news for Western Sydney families. Raging Waters has been a fixture on the school holiday circuit for years, and under Jamberoo's ownership — a park famous for its impeccable presentation, enthusiastic staff and world-class rides — Sydney Action Park has real potential to become the water park the site was always supposed to be.
