If there's one thing we can't get enough of at ellaslist, it's the abundance of natural wonders right on our doorstep here in NSW. And if you're anything like my family and love nothing more than grabbing the kids, jumping in the car, hitting the road and exploring magical oases and hidden gems in Sydney, you're going to love the mysterious Blue Pool at Carrington Falls.

Sydney's Magical Blue Pool

Blue Pool Budderoo National Park
The mysterious Blue Pool is one of Sydney's stunning natural watering holes.

Not to be confused with the famous Blue Pool Walking Track, this hidden gem is nowhere near the Blue Mountains, in fact, it's south of Sydney in the glorious Budderoo National Park.

As its mystical name suggests, the Blue Pool is a glowing natural watering hole that lets off a stunning azure shimmer when the light hits it just right. The kids will love immersing themselves in the rainforest-like surroundings, spotting tadpoles in the water, or even going for a refreshing dip. If you're visiting with the intention to swim, Blue Pool is yours for the splashing, but be sure to watch the little ones as the water is quite deep. And if you're in the mood for even more adventure, the impressive 50-metre Carrington Falls are downstream from the Blue Pool.

Another highlight when visiting the Budderoo National Park is Nellie's Glen. Nellie's Glen has its own dazzling watering hole and flowing waterfall for the ultimate day of splashing.

The Nellie's Glen Walking Track offers Warris Chair Lookout for some sightseeing as well as picnic tables for a spot of lunch.

How Do I Get To Budderoo National Park?

Blue Pool Budderoo National Park
Access the Blue Pool via Jamberoo Mountain Road near Robertson.

Budderoo National Park is roughly 99 kilometres south of Sydney in the Illawarra Region.

To access the famous Blue Pool we recommend using Jamberoo Mountain Road and parking at the Blue Pool Carpark.
