What is Area 51?

The new Area 51 Skygate will stick to the brand's space theme.

Area 51 is one of Australia's biggest indoor family entertainment brands, built around large-scale active play for kids and adults alike. Each venue is loaded with climbing arenas, trampolines, ninja-style obstacle courses, inflatables, sports courts, high ropes, and dedicated toddler zones — all under one, all-weather roof.

The venues are designed to work for the whole family, with evening sessions catering to adults and facilities available for birthday parties and corporate events.

Why Skygate at Brisbane Airport?

Skygate is the entertainment precinct attached to Brisbane Airport.

Skygate is the retail and entertainment precinct attached to Brisbane Airport, and it's been growing quickly. It's already home to DFO Brisbane, Queensland's only 24-hour Woolworths, the 4 Pines Brewery and Never Never gin distillery at Landers Pocket, and most recently a Fever pop-up exhibition. Area 51 is the next piece in what's becoming a genuine full-day destination.

Free parking and easy access from Brisbane's main arterial roads make it a practical drawcard for families across the city.

What to Expect From the Brisbane Airport Area 51

The final design is still being locked in, but the confirmed footprint already tells you something about the scale. At 7,000 square metres, this will be the largest indoor Area 51 built to date. Brisbane Airport has confirmed the venue will feature the newest attractions available when it opens, so the fit-out is expected to go beyond what's currently on offer at existing Queensland and Sydney locations.

What's already confirmed: climbing arenas, trampolines, ninja obstacle courses, inflatables, a sports court, high ropes, a toddler zone, an in-house cafe, birthday party packages, and adult evening sessions.

When Does Area 51 Skygate Open?

Area 51 Skygate Brisbane Airport is expected to open in late 2027. No exact date has been confirmed yet. We'll update this article as more details are released — including ticketing and pricing information.

In the meantime, existing Area 51 locations across Queensland are worth checking out if you're looking for something to do with the kids now.
