VR Madness is Bringing Next-Level Gaming to Sydney

Western Sydney gamers will soon be able to swap the lounge-room screen for a much bigger adventure when VR Madness opens in Northmead!

The new indoor entertainment venue is bringing together virtual-reality games, an untethered multiplayer arena and more than 30 arcade machines under one neon-lit roof. With dedicated party rooms also in the works, VR Madness is shaping up as a handy new option for rainy days, family outings and birthdays where sitting quietly is definitely not on the agenda.

What is VR Madness?

VR Madness is a large virtual-reality and arcade centre designed for casual visits, group gaming and celebrations. Players will be able to choose from more than 70 VR games, test their reflexes in the arcade or team up for an immersive battle inside the venue's free-roam arena.

The variety should make it easier for groups with different gaming tastes to find something they enjoy. Keen gamers can head straight for the headsets, while anyone who prefers an old-school button-mashing session can stick to the arcade floor.

Battle it Out in the Free-Roam VR Arena

The free-roam VR Arena is set to be one of the venue's biggest drawcards. Rather than standing in one spot with cables attached, players wear wireless equipment and move around a dedicated arena floor as the virtual world unfolds around them.

The arena has been designed for full-body multiplayer battles, allowing friends and family members to work as a team or compete against one another while completing virtual missions. Players will need to communicate, watch their surroundings and remember that the enemy creeping up behind them may actually be their sibling.

Individual games may carry different age, height or participation requirements, so parents should check the conditions for their chosen experience when bookings open.

Explore More Than 70 VR Games

Beyond the arena, gamers will be able to choose from a broad library of virtual-reality games and several motion-based attractions.

The announced line-up includes Space Ride, VR Sky Glide, VR Space Wheel, VR 360 and VR Air Combat, offering plenty of ways to fly, spin and venture somewhere far beyond Northmead without leaving the building.

With so many games available, VR Madness should work equally well for experienced players and newcomers curious to see what virtual reality feels like. Staff assistance and individual game requirements are yet to be detailed, so families may want to begin with a shorter or gentler experience before attempting anything with serious spinning power.

Hit the Arcade Zone

Headsets are only part of the action! The neon-lit Arcade Zone will house more than 30 machines, including familiar arcade games, racing simulators and motion cabinets.

One of the featured attractions is Colour Grid, a giant reflex game that challenges players to move quickly across an illuminated floor. It adds a more active option for groups and gives kids another way to compete once they have finished racing cars or disappearing into virtual worlds.

Birthday Parties at VR Madness

VR Madness will also feature dedicated party rooms for kids' birthdays and group celebrations. Packages include 1.5 hours of unlimited arcade play, access to Colour Grid and a VR experience, although exact inclusions may vary between packages.

Make a Day of It With PowerPlay

VR Madness will sit directly next door to PowerPlay, the indoor electric go-karting venue at Unit 3 — how convenient!

So families can pair a virtual-reality session with a few laps around the racetrack, creating an action-packed outing for kids, teens and competitive parents.

VR Madness is currently scheduled to open in mid-August 2026, although an exact opening day has not yet been announced. Families should check the venue's website or social pages before making the trip.
