Stage 1 Complete: Leichhardt Splash Pool Reopens

Sydney families, the wait is over — Leichhardt Park Aquatic Centre is making a splash again! After a major refresh, Stage 1 of the long-awaited renovation is officially complete, bringing fresh energy (and plenty of water play) back to one of the Inner West's most-loved pools.

Leichhardt Pool Makes a Splash Again

Inner West Council has kicked off the biggest aquatic centre renovation in its history, setting the pool up for the next 50 years of swims, splashes, rehab sessions, and sunny family days. And Stage 1 is all about the fun stuff, especially for kids.

The famous Mushroom Splash Pool has had a facelift! Little swimmers now have a brand-new children's splash-and-play area to explore, plus a fully refurbished play pool that's ready for hours of carefree water fun. Around the pool, families will find upgraded BBQ areas, extra seating, and more shade, perfect for those long, lazy summer hangs while the kids burn off energy in the water.

Comfort has also had a serious upgrade. New state-of-the-art heating and cooling systems ensure the indoor program pool, children's pool, and surrounding spaces are comfortable year-round.

What's Ahead For Stage 2 of the Leichhardt Pool Renovation

And this is only the beginning. Stage 2, kicking off in early 2026, will bring even bigger changes, including a brand-new heated 50-metre Olympic pool and a versatile 25-metre pool for water polo, learn-to-swim, aqua aerobics, and more community activities.
