Dawn Fraser Baths
For a peaceful swim with a glimpse of history, Dawn Fraser baths are the place to go. It’s a very low cost family activity and a totally unique swimming experience. Built in the early 1880’s, it is heritage listed and we are so very lucky to have this little slice of history here in the Inner West. The beautiful wooden decking and surrounding grandstand is just as it would have been in the 1800’s-it’s easy to imagine so many generations of children having has much fun as our kids today.
It is unlike any other harbour pool as it is tidal flow salt water pool-at low tide there is even a beach where the kids can build sandcastles. The kiosk serves hot food, snacks, ice creams and cappuccinos and yummy breakkie on weekends. The harbour views are spectacular so bring a rug, pack picnic and stay a while.
