Como Pleasure Grounds: New Playground, Cafes & More

Como Pleasure Grounds is a popular, kid-friendly park with a playground, picnic tables and BBQs as well as a bike track and walking loop path. These beautiful grounds have panoramic views of the Georges River and surrounding bushland.

There is so much for families to see and do at Como Pleasure Grounds. Here's what to keep in mind when visiting this Sutherland Shire gem.

Como Pleasure Grounds

A New Playground is on the Way!

An artist's impression of the new playground at Como Pleasure Grounds.

The Como Pleasure Grounds pirate-themed playground is no longer, because there's something new and exciting in the works!

The new playground has been designed to sit beautifully within the existing parkland, keeping that much-loved open, riverside feel while adding a playful new layer for kids. Drawing inspiration from the area's local history, the hero of the new Como Pleasure Grounds playground will be a paddle steamer-themed play structure, a lovely nod to the river stories that have shaped the area.

Families can expect a new Como Pleasure Grounds playground that caters to a wide range of ages and abilities, with swings, slides, climbing and spinning equipment designed to encourage different play styles. Accessibility has clearly been at the forefront, with inclusive play elements built into the main structure and the carousel so more children can play together, side by side.

Beyond the play equipment, the upgrade looks set to make the whole area more comfortable for families spending the day. Improved walking paths will make it easier to move around the park with prams, scooters or mobility aids, while upgraded picnic and seating areas, plus a handy water bottle–filling station, make lingering a little longer very tempting. New garden beds and refreshed landscaping will help tie everything together while preserving the natural charm locals love.

Construction is expected to begin in early 2026, so watch this space for an official opening date!

Cafes

Como Waterfront Cafe
There are plenty of eatery options at Como Pleasure Grounds.

There are two cafes at Como Pleasure Grounds, perfect for grabbing a bite to eat whilst you enjoy everything the grounds have to offer.  Blackfish Cafe is situated in the heart of Como Pleasure Grounds, with panoramic views of the Georges River and surrounding bushland. Offering breakfast and lunch 7-days a week, Blackfish Cafe offers delicious food in a gorgeous, tranquil setting.

Meanwhile, situated right on the water's edge, the Como Waterfront Cafe makes for a great spot to enjoy a coffee and a bite to eat while observing the local wildlife and is open seven days a week for breakfast and lunch.

Thai Rim Nam (Water's Edge) Restaurant at Como is another great pick for a meal, open six days per week for lunch and dinner.  There's a beautiful outdoor area, mouthwatering authentic Thai food on offer, and a gorgeous spot nestled amongst the trees in historic Como. What more could you want?
