Introduce the kids to the magic of live orchestral music as the Willoughby Symphony Orchestra presents Musical Pictures, a delightful one-hour concert at The Concourse Concert Hall in Chatswood that brings art and music together in a creative and engaging way.

This family-friendly performance takes audiences on a musical journey through an imaginary art gallery guided by the sounds of the orchestra.

Discover the power of orchestral music that brings imagination to life at a vibrant family concert from Willoughby Symphony Orchestra. Musical Pictures is a special one-hour performance featuring selections from Mussorgsky’s most-loved works, taking audiences on a thrilling musical adventure inspired by art, storytelling, and sound. Kids will hear how the symphony orchestra uses incredible colours to produce chilling, electrifying, wondrous and exciting moments.

Families will journey through an imaginary art gallery with music from Pictures at an Exhibition, led by conductor Dr Nicholas Milton AM. Dr Milton will introduce the famous ‘promenade’ music that guides listeners from picture to picture while revealing how different instruments help paint each artwork in sound. Along the way, children will discover the unique colours and textures created by the orchestra.

Young audience members will also have the chance to create their very own artworks inspired by Mussorgsky’s magnificent music, adding an interactive and creative element to this memorable musical experience.

Children aged under 2 years at the time of the performance may be seated on a parent’s lap free of charge. All children occupying a seat or aged 2+ years must hold a valid ticket.
