Lights and nature collide for an out-of-this-world immersive experience as Wild Lights at Taronga Zoo returns as a Vivid Sydney location for 2023! Catch over 100 incredible animal lanterns and immersive light installations across 18 magical nights.
Headlining the highly-anticipated Vivid Sydney, Wild Lights at Taronga Zoo will run from Friday, 26 May to Saturday, 17 June 2023. Wild Lights at Taronga Zoo is an immersive and inspiring experience where guests can explore the Zoo after dark on an illuminated night walk which will showcase some of the country’s most iconic species such as the emu, possum, echidna, dingo, platypus, kangaroo and koala.
Running for 18 unforgettable nights, this year's event has been inspired by ancient and present wisdom of the oldest continuing culture on the planet and will see Australia’s unique wildlife transformed into a spectacle of light never seen before!
Discover over 100 festival-favourite lanterns from 17 captivating species as you explore this roar-some after-dark experience and take in the best views of Sydney Harbour.
With a strong focus on caring for Country and driving change, this year's Wild Lights will debut a variety of new and iconic lanterns created by First Nations Artist, Nathan Packham of YURANA CREATIVE, and is a collaboration between Nicholas Tory and his team at Ample Projects
Wild Lights is a ticketed and inclusive event where guests will experience:
- Over 100 animal-inspired lanterns and immersive light installations.
- 7 NEW native animal lanterns showcase our most iconic Australian species.
- A one-of-a-kind nighttime adventure along the NEW illuminated night walk
- Special Wild Lights food menu available across multiple locations throughout the Zoo.
- Two licensed venues
- A spectacular Vivid view over Sydney Harbour.

Every dollar you spend saves wildlife, including helping to return more than 50,000 threatened animals to the wild, care for thousands of injured wildlife at their Wildlife Hospitals, and breeding threatened species to insure against extinction.
