Wicked The Musical Is Returning To Sydney

Hold on to your broomsticks, my pretties! The sensational blockbuster Broadway musical WICKED is set to make a triumphant return to the Sydney stage next year.

In exciting news for theatre lovers, the spectacular production that depicts the untold story of the witches of OZ before they were made (in)famous by the legendary 1940 film, will be flying into the Emerald City again in August 2023.

Celebrating almost two decades since it first premiered on Broadway, WICKED is still one of the most successful and acclaimed musicals in the world, with over 100+ major awards under its cape.

With breathtaking visual effects, stellar performances and a stirring soundtrack, the captivating story unveils what happened in the Land of Oz long before Dorothy arrives. Then, there was Elphaba, a smart, fiery, young woman, born with emerald-green skin, who was misunderstood but possessed an extraordinary talent. She crossed paths with Galinda, a popular, vivacious blonde and their initial rivalry turned into an improbable friendship until the world around them decides that one is “good,” and the other one is "wicked".

Scheduled for an exclusive season at the Sydney Lyric, the origin story of the Wicked Witch of the West has been a hit with theatregoers thanks to the timeless tale - with the power of female friendship at its core - and dazzling visual mastery.
