For a family outing that’s colourful and creative, The Archibald, Wynne and Sulman Prizes 2026 exhibition at the Art Gallery of New South Wales is one of Sydney’s most iconic art events.

Bringing together three of Australia’s most celebrated art prizes under one roof, this annual exhibition is a chance for families to explore incredible artworks, spark imagination and see some of the country’s best artistic talent up close.

Discover Australia’s Most Famous Portrait Prize

Best known for its captivating portraits, the Archibald Prize 2026 invites visitors to look beyond the paint and think about the people behind the faces. Who are they? What stories do their portraits tell? It’s the perfect opportunity for curious kids to ask questions and see how artists capture personality, emotion and identity.

Landscapes, Murals and Young Archie

Alongside the portraits, the Wynne Prize 2026 showcases breathtaking landscapes and imaginative sculptures that little explorers will love discovering. From sweeping scenes to eye-catching three-dimensional works, there's plenty to keep kids engaged as they wander through the galleries.

The Sulman Prize 2026 celebrates subject painting and large-scale mural projects, with this year’s prize judged by acclaimed Australian artist Del Kathryn Barton.

Families can also visit the much-loved Young Archie 2026 exhibition in Kaldor Hall, featuring incredible artworks created by talented young artists aged 5 to 18. It's completely free to visit and always a favourite with creative kids.

Family-Friendly Fun at the Gallery

A single ticket gives families access to all three major exhibitions, plus children under 12 receive free entry, while family tickets include two adults and up to three young people aged 12 to 17.
