For a magical midweek experience that is a little out of the ordinary, the Art Gallery of New South Wales swings open its doors after dark for Art After Hours – a brilliant, family-friendly cultural experience every Wednesday night.

This popular weekly event transforms the iconic gallery into a vibrant night-time hub, bursting with creativity and inspiration. From interactive workshops and thought-provoking talks to live music and curated film screenings, there's something for art lovers of all ages to discover.

Art After Hours at the Art Gallery of New South Wales

Art After Hours offers a relaxed, welcoming vibe and the chance to explore art in a whole new way. It's free, fun and open to everyone – making it the perfect midweek cultural fix.

Tweens, teens and grown-ups will love the Create, Draw, Meditate and Move hands-on workshops, designed to fire up your imagination and get your body moving, inspired by the Gallery’s awe-inspiring collection.

What Happens at the Art Gallery of New South Wales Art After Hours

2-for-1 Exhibition Ticket Offer

A special 2-for-1 offer is available for Magritte and Cao Fei exhibitions between 5 pm and 10 pm on Wednesdays.

A free shuttle bus runs every 20 minutes during Art After Hours from 7 pm to 10 pm from the Art Gallery to public transport hubs at Town Hall, Martin Place and Wynyard.
