Nothing says Christmas quite like the sound of a live orchestra playing festive favourites in a stunning heritage venue. This December,  Sydney Youth Orchestras (SYO) is bringing the magic to life with a day-long celebration at White Bay Power Station that’s sure to become your family’s newest festive tradition. 

On Sunday 7 December, at 2:30 pm, the SYO Philharmonic Orchestra will fill the halls of White Bay with the sounds of Christmas classics, including uplifting movements from The Nutcracker.

It’s the perfect way to soak up the spirit of the festive season, surrounded by the talent of some of Australia’s most gifted young musicians. It's a concert celebration bursting with beautiful music and community. With the White Bay Power Station’s industrial-chic setting as the backdrop, it’s a unique festive experience

Arrive early to explore the bustling Christmas markets from 9 am, where  Balmain Village Markets will host a lively mix of artisan stalls, local makers, delicious food trucks and pop-up bars serving seasonal favourites.

Younger music fans can join one of the Meet the Orchestra Family Concerts at 9:30 am and 11 am, presented by SYO’s Peter Seymour Orchestra. These interactive performances introduce kids to the instruments, sounds and personalities that make orchestral music so magical, with plenty of fun and familiar tunes.

After a morning of markets and mini concerts, settle in for an unforgettable afternoon as SYO’s Philharmonic Orchestra takes the stage for the main event!
