School Holiday Fun at Australian Botanic Garden Mount Annan

The Australian Botanic Garden Mount Annan School Holidays Programs are back this Autumn. Join them for an exciting series of fun outdoor activities in the Gardens. Many creative and outdoor challenges are on offer in the Gardens these holidays. 

Shelters and Bushcraft

These holidays are all about shelters and survival! What are the ways our amazing native animals survive in the wild? Super Shelters activities will include playing games, searching for animal shelters in the Garden, and making natural shelters. Do you have the skills to build and survive? How will your super shelter fare in a downpour of rain? Let’s find out!

Note: Book this program with the same day afternoon session, ‘Eco Art’, and Education Staff will supervise your children over the lunch break (BYO lunch).

When:   Thurs 20th April & Fri 21st April | 10 am-11:30 am

Eco Art

The Australian Botanic Garden is the perfect place to unleash your creative side! Follow the footsteps of great Australian artists in the winding Garden paths with our educators. Explore natural materials as you create a collection of art that can be taken home or left on location. Discover how science and art work together to share knowledge.

Note: Book this program with the same day morning session, ‘Shelters and Bushcraft’, and Education Staff will supervise your children over the lunch break (BYO lunch).

First Nations Art and Weaving

Explore and learn about the native plants in the Garden with a First Nations Educator. Create leaf etching art with your favourite leaves and weave them into headbands.

When:   Tues 18th April, Wed 19th April | 12:30 pm - 2 pm

Cost:     $18 per participating child, $16 for F&F members

Sunset Spotlight Tour

This torch-lit adventure lets you explore the Garden and its fascinating nightlife. Explore the Garden's critically endangered woodland on a nocturnal bushwalk and discover the wonders of this habitat. Try spotlighting and other fieldwork techniques, the same used by our scientists, with an experienced guide. You will also learn how to participate in citizen science projects in your own neighbourhood! The Garden is waiting to be explored- what will you discover?

Note: This program is recommended for ages 8+. All children must be accompanied by a paying adult.

When:   Friday 14th April | 5:20 - 6.50pm and  Friday 21st April | 5:10 – 6.40pm

Cost:     $42 per adult (16 years and over) | $20 per child (8-15 years)
