Play! Kids Festival: School Holiday Fun At The Pavilion Sutherland

School holidays are the time for kids to play and have fun, and the perfect place to do it is at the Play! Kids Festival.

The Play! Kids Festival will transform The Pavilion Performing Arts Centre in Sutherland into an action-packed playground for children to be immersed in a vibrant array of performances and workshops.

Some of Sydney’s favourite children’s performers will be taking to the stage for the festival, bringing dinosaurs, circus skills, art classes, Shakespeare, music workshops, discos and loads more to the festival line-up.

Running over four big days from Wednesday 4 - Saturday 7 October, this is the first-ever Play! Kids Festival, showcasing Sutherland’s exciting new entertainment venue.

Sydney Youth Orchestras: Meet the Orchestra Workshop and Concert
Wednesday 4 October
The relaxed, informal and interactive concert is a wonderful way to introduce children to the magic of orchestral music and different instruments. Kids are encouraged to stomp, clap, dance, and wiggle to the music. Plus, if your child is ready for their stage debut, they can join a morning workshop with SYO’s Peter Seymour Orchestra and perform in the afternoon concert.

Erth’s Dinosaur Zoo
Thursday 5 October
This amazing menagerie of dinosaurs and insects will leave kids and parents awestruck! Prehistoric creatures, from cute baby dinos to some of the largest carnivores and herbivores that have ever walked the planet, will come to life in Erth’s fun and educational performance. Experience this unique and imaginative show, where you can feed and interact with incredible creatures.

The Listies Hamlet: Prince of Skidmark
Friday 6 & Saturday 7 October
The Listies are back with their very cheeky, utterly clever, totally irreverent take on Shakespeare’s classic! Made especially for little theatre lovers by the maestros of children’s entertainment, The Listies have pulled Shakespeare’s Hamlet and glued it back together with crazy costumes, signature silliness, exciting interactivity, and loads of laughs. Plus, there are bonus pillow fights! It is a delightful romp for everyone aged five and over.

Aerialize Circus Workshops
Daily
Unleash the inner circus performer! With a mix of acro-balance, plate-spinning, hula hooping, juggling, poi, ribbon - plus diablo for the older children - kids will have fun while developing their circus skills with Aerialize, one of the most well-established and respected circus and aerial training institutions in Australia. With classes for 2 - 5 year olds and 5+, spots are limited so get in and book early.

Art Workshops
Daily
Absolutely no experience is required for these engaging art classes led by animator and cartoonist Mark Tippett. Budding artists will pick up some fun new skills in a variety of classes including Drawing Fundamentals and themed workshops: Drawing Random Stuff, Animals or Superheroes. Classes run for one hour and are designed for kids aged 5-10 years. Spots are limited so get in early!

Ettingshausens Kids Disco
Daily
Little movers and shakers can get their groove on in a super-fun and active class led by instructors from Ettingshausens Kirrawee. Dress up and get down under the disco ball at a session designed especially for 3 - 5-year-olds and 5 - 8-year-olds. Spots are limited so book now!

Storytime
Wednesday 4 & Thursday 5 October
Let the Sutherland Shire Librarians entertain your children with a classic Storytime session in the Pavilion foyer. It's FREE and you can drop in - no booking required!

The Play! Kids Festival

More festival fun will be announced including free entertainment in the foyer and activities in Peace Park, so mark the dates in your diary and get set to watch your child's imagination soar.
