For a magical evening that blends art, music, movement and moonlight, Full Bloom at the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia is your ticket to a winter night with a difference! Designed for families, it's the perfect opportunity to get out and enjoy Sydney after dark with your little adventurers.

As the full moon rises over Circular Quay, the MCA will transform into a glowing greenhouse of creativity with a vibrant line-up of after-hours fun inspired by the mesmerising winter exhibition Cerith Wyn Evans .... in light of the visible.

Full Bloom at the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia is about to light up one winter night only with a luminous evening of creativity and connection – and it's all family-friendly.

Creating something truly special to do with the kids after dark, the MCA will burst to life with vibrant installations and a line-up of experiences designed to delight curious minds of all ages. From torchlit gallery tours and ikebana demonstrations to harp performances and hands-on art-making, this is not your average night at the museum! 

Families can groove with the movement of Dot Dot Dance, get crafty with in-gallery art-making activities and watch floral magic unfold with Sogetsu Ikebana artists. Then, wander Cerith Wyn Evans' hypnotic neon garden by torchlight in this unique gallery experience.

Need a breather? Pause for a harbourside aperitivo at the MCA Cafe at Tallawoladah, or soak up the serenity and sculpture under the stars on the Level 4 terrace, where Jodie Whalen’s dreamy light installations invite quiet wonder and play.

Plus, an international music guest will take the stage with a luminous set of tender, soulful pop to close the evening.

Full Bloom Program Highlights

• Feel the rhythm and get moving with the joyful energy of Dot Dot Dance – perfect for families who love to groove!
• Wander beneath the stars and interact with the dreamlike light works of Jodie Whalen on the Level 4 Sculpture Terrace.
• Step into a glowing greenhouse and be swept away by the melodies of harpist Victor Valdes.
• Watch Sogetsu Ikebana NSW bring floral sculptures to life in real time, blending nature and artistry in stunning form.
• Experience the MCA’s major winter exhibition, Cerith Wyn Evans .... in light of the visible, in a whole new light on an intimate, guided Torch-lit Tour.
• Let kids (and grown-ups!) spark their creativity with guided hands-on art-making activities throughout the MCA, inspired by the works around them, from colourful experiments to paper-folding fun.

Full Bloom is an all-ages celebration of contemporary art with a night of enchanting experiences. Tickets include all access to exhibitions after hours. One night only – don’t miss it!
