Marian Street Theatre for Young People School Holiday Workshops

Dive into a world of drama queens and kings with the Marian Street Theatre for Young People Holiday Workshops! Students from Kindergarten to Year 12 will be immersed in an engaging theatrical experience while they learn valuable skills and build their confidence on stage. 

Marian Street Theatre courses offer a comprehensive theatre education for budding performers to explore acting skills like characterisation, listening, and reacting. They will learn storytelling techniques such as story arc and story building; delve into stagecraft, collaboration, and ensemble building, and be guided on vocal techniques. They will also be introduced to public speaking, stage physicality, and movement, all while fostering confidence in a fun and safe environment.

Public Speaking Primary 1-Day Workshops

In this 1-day public speaking workshop designed for primary school students, participants will collaborate with other young people and experienced Teaching Artists to develop their voice, confidence, and creative expression. In this dynamic and supportive environment, guided by their tutor, they’ll discover their unique voice and contribute to a safe and encouraging space. At the end of the workshop, there will be a showcase where the students can share their newfound skills with family and friends!

1 Play In 1 Day

When:  Thursday 17 April | 9:30 am – 4:00 pm

In this 1-day workshop designed for primary school students, they will work together to create a brand-new play! With the assistance of an industry teaching artistic, they will build stories, create wonderfully wacky characters and develop their performance skills. This workshop aims to build confidence through performance. There will be a special performance at the end of the day, where family and friends can enjoy the play the students have been working on!

Make a PLAY in 3 Days: Autumn Adventures

In this BRAND-NEW workshop ‘Autumn Adventures’ students will devise a play in which to perform to their family and friends. In this 3-day workshop students will work together to create a play all about Autumn Adventures! Working with their teaching artist, they will collaborate to create a story, characters and hone their stage skills. This workshop encourages creativity, confidence and collaboration! Can you think of an Autumn themed story? Primary school students, come join the Autumn fun!

Monologue Masterclass

Where: Killara
When:  Wednesday 23 - Thursday 24 April | 9:30 am – 4:00 pm

Designed for High school students, the Monologue Masterclass is a 2-day event designed to assist young actors in establishing their skills and finding their voice. Working with industry professionals, students will have the opportunity to explore new monologues and characters, and collaborate with other drama enthusiasts!

If you have an audition or assessment, or just need some support and feedback, join in now! Pick your favourite character you’ve been longing to play and bring in your favourite monologue, or have your teaching artist do it for you. Master your monologue skills and enrol in the April workshops. No prior experience necessary.
