This thought-provoking exhibition brings together over 20 works from the Gallery’s collection – many on show for the first time – and explores the people and relationships that shape our lives. From heartwarming photographs of children at play to vibrant paintings of remote Aboriginal communities, each artwork honours the everyday heroes who raise, support, and nurture us.

One of the highlights is Amalia Pica’s Aula grande (outlined), an interactive installation where you can walk into a life-sized classroom made entirely of green chalkboard. Pick up a piece of chalk and help transform the space with your own drawings, doodles or messages – no mark is permanent, and no two days look the same.

It Takes a Village is a celebration of the families we’re born into and the ones we create, offering something for visitors of all ages to reflect on, interact with, and enjoy.
