IMAX Sydney❜s Grand Reopening: Experience Cinema Like Never Before!

After a seven-year hiatus, IMAX Sydney is set to make a grand comeback on 11 October. Boasting a colossal 692-square-metre screen, the Darling Harbour venue is all set to redefine movie-watching experiences. The reopening will feature blockbuster hits like Avatar: The Way of Water, Barbenheimer, and Taylor Swift's electrifying Eras concert tour film.

IMAX Sydney is BACK, Baby!

 

The iconic cinema, which closed its doors in 2016, underwent a complete transformation. While the initial plan was to reopen in 2019 and then in 2021, the wait has certainly been worth it. The revamped IMAX screen, although slightly smaller than its Melbourne counterpart, promises up to 40-percent more image, ensuring a visual treat for movie enthusiasts.

IMAX Sydney's state-of-the-art technology includes 4K laser projection with a new optical engine, custom-designed lenses, and a 12-channel sound setup. This ensures brighter images, increased resolution, deeper contrast, and a vibrant colour palette, offering an unparalleled cinematic experience.

 

Operated by EVT, the hospitality giant behind Event Cinemas and Moonlight Cinema, IMAX Sydney offers a seating capacity of 430, matching its predecessor. Moviegoers can choose from standard seats, full recliners, couples' recliners, or an exclusive private box for four, complete with exclusive food and beverage options.

The cinema's revamped marketplace experience promises a gourmet treat for patrons. Whether you're looking to relax in the lounge or enjoy a drink at the full-service bar, IMAX Sydney has got you covered.

EVT CEO Jane Hastings expressed her excitement, stating, "The opening of IMAX Sydney showcases EVT's commitment to world-class entertainment in Australia." IMAX CEO Rich Gelfond echoed the sentiment, highlighting the venue's significance as a global flagship location.
