Festival of Democracy at Parliament of NSW
Australia’s oldest Parliament is swinging its doors these school holidays for the Festival of Democracy - an exciting annual event and day-long celebration packed with free fun for families with children aged from 4 to 12 years.
Whether your little one is just starting to understand the concept of voting or is eager to delve deeper into how governments work, there are engaging, interactive activities for everyone to explore at this unique open-day experience!
Engage, Educate, Empower: Festival of Democracy 2024
Get inside the walls of the Parliament of NSW and be immersed in interactive exhibits designed to make democracy come alive for kids. From mock elections where kids can cast their votes to immersive art workshops, there's plenty to keep young minds engaged, amidst a festive atmosphere packed with education and entertainment.
Festival of Democracy Highlights:
- Have a say in the mock committee hearings
- Make a speech as a member of parliament in the chambers
- Join a cartoon workshop with the award-winning illustrator Eric Lobbecke
- Voting with the NSW Electoral Commission
Plus, there will be crafts, storytelling, tours of the historic chambers and roving musicians. You may even get to meet some important people from Parliament’s history!
Entry is FREE however, tickets are required, and children must be accompanied by an adult. Book now!
