Badu Gili, which means ‘water light’ in the Gadigal language, celebrates the ancient stories and rich contemporary culture of Australia’s First Nations.

Take a seat on the Monumental Steps for a FREE daily cultural experience as Sydney Opera House’s sails are illuminated with striking, colourful 6-minute projections. 

This year's installation, Badu Gili: Healing Spirit is a vibrant new animation of artworks that weaves th ework and stories of local and international First Nations artists, created in collaboration between the Opera House, Biennale of Sydney and the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain.

The sails will illuminate hourly at sunset until 31 March 2025. Arrive early to soak up the atmosphere and take in the views.
