This free exhibition highlights bold ideas, impressive technical skill and the diverse perspectives shaping the next generation of Australian artists.
ARTEXPRESS 2026 at the Art Gallery of New South Wales
Every year, the Art Gallery of New South Wales hosts one of the most exciting events on the cultural calendar. The dynamic, highly-anticipated ARTEXPRESS 2026 exhibition is a kaleidoscope of ideas and emotions, shining a spotlight on outstanding artworks created by Year 12 Visual Arts students from across New South Wales as part of their 2025 Higher School Certificate.
Visitors will discover an eclectic range of artworks that showcase impressive technical skill and imaginative thinking. Students have pushed creative boundaries across a wide variety of media, including ceramics, drawing, painting, sculpture, photomedia, graphic design, printmaking, textiles and fibre. The exhibition also features designed objects, documented forms, collections of works and time-based forms, giving families the chance to see just how many ways art can be expressed. Each piece reflects the stories and issues that matter to young people today.
Since 1989, the Art Gallery has been the principal venue for ARTEXPRESS, presented in partnership with the NSW Department of Education, Arts Unit and the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA).
Located in the Naala Badu building, ARTEXPRESS 2026 offers a welcoming environment for families and young creatives. No tickets are required, and entry is completely free. Don't miss your chance to behold the exceptional young talent.
