Introduce your kids to a unique, hands-on experience that celebrates Sydney’s First Nations Aboriginal heritage.
These free Aboriginal weaving workshops are guided by the incredible women of Ngumpie Weaving, connecting the Sydney foreshore areas—Barangaroo, Tallawoladah (The Rocks), and Tumbalong (Darling Harbour)—through the shared experience of this ancient skill.
Aboriginal Weaving Workshops at Barangaroo
At each week's weaving workshop, you'll build on your weaving techniques, starting with the fundamentals and ending up with a beautiful woven piece you’ve created to take home and admire.
Along the way, you'll gain valuable cultural insights and learn hands-on skills in this tradition. Weaving was a skill that was integral to daily lives of local mobs around Warrane (Sydney Harbour) and this will no doubt give you and the kids a deeper appreciation for Sydney’s rich First Nations heritage.

The FREE Aboriginal Weaving Workshops are led by the women of Ngumpie Weaving and are held every Thursday 10:30am-12pm.
