For over a century, elephants have been at the heart of Taronga. Now, it’s time for Tang Mo and Pak Boon to embark on a mammoth journey to join a newly formed social herd at the end of March.
This is your last chance to say ‘goodbye’ before Tang Mo and Pak Boon set off on their epic new adventure!
Come and celebrate their legacy, relive special memories, and create new ones with a month of exciting activities:
- Follow the ‘Great Migration’ Kids Trail – Discover fascinating elephant facts, interactive activities, and cherished moments from Taronga’s elephant history.
- Get creative – Enjoy elephant-inspired arts and crafts and leave a farewell message for Tang Mo and Pak Boon.
- Meet the keepers – Join the daily Elephant Keeper Talk to learn about Asian Elephants and their exciting journey ahead.
- Step into history – Watch a special screening in the Centenary Theatre, showcasing unforgettable moments from Taronga’s elephants over the years.
- Taste the journey – Indulge in delicious dishes inspired by Thai culture, the birthplace of Tang Mo and Pak Boon.

The Next Wild Chapter: What’s Coming to Taronga
As Tang Mo and Pak Boon begin their next chapter, Taronga plans to welcome an exciting new arrival! Later this year, Hari, a Greater One-Horned Rhino, along with three Water Buffalo, will make their debut at Taronga Zoo.
And if you can’t get enough of elephants, Taronga Western Plains Zoo in Dubbo is home to a thriving, multi-generational herd of seven elephants—soon to be eight with the hopeful arrival of a calf later this year.
