The happiest place on Earth is so much fun to visit, be it your first time, or 50th. There are always new and exciting things to discover at Disneyland, such as these three new experiences in California that are a must for any diehard Disney fan.
Pixar Pier
This cheery new addition to California Adventure Park brings some favourite Pixar characters to the land. If you’re brave enough, take an upside down ride on the Incredicoaster, or, for a slower pace, a try spin on Jessie’s Critter Carousel or the Inside Out-themed Emotional Whirlwind.
The new Lamplight Lounge is a highlight inside the park for dining and especially drinks. Order the Infinity Fizz drink for a sweet, bubbling drink that will help kids power on through the day.
Bing Bong’s Sweet Stuff is a store at the far end of Pixar Pier and is a treasure trove of themed souvenirs that can’t be found elsewhere in the park, as well as where to go for a rainbow slushie.
Disney Princess Breakfast Adventures
A luxe character dining experience for a special occasion, the three-course breakfast comes complete with a bevvy of princess meet-and-greets, plus take-home gifts and a welcome glass of bubbles for the grownups. Kids can meet princesses at their table as they dine as well as participating in special activities which might be storytime with Pocahontas, or learning warrior poses with Mulan.
Located inside the upmarket Napa Rose restaurant at Disney’s Grand Californian Resort & Spa, the food is incredible, which is just what you’d expect from a top notch restaurant. The princesses spend quality time with each guest and go out of their way to make each child feel special, making the breakfast a delightful morning that the entire family will always remember.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
The brand new 14-acre development is home to two rides, character meet-and-greets, Star Wars-themed experiences, restaurants and plenty of merch shopping. What’s most impressive about the land is how immersive it is. Once you pass through the inconspicuous entry points, you are smack bang in a new world, having left Disneyland in a galaxy far, far away.
Characters roam freely around the land, rather than having scheduled meeting times, so you never know who you will meet. When Kylo Ren and the stormtroopers acoster guests hovering in waiting areas, they have to think quick and assure him they are on his side. However if you run into Chewbacca, he won’t have a photo with you if he isn’t convinced you’re on the side of the rebellion.
The first ride to open inside Galaxy’s Edge, Smuggler’s Run, gives Disneyland guests what could only be described as a childhood dream come true - the chance to pilot the Millenium Falcon. Staged a few months apart, the second ride, Rise of the Resistance, has been heralded as the “best theme park ride of all time”; an immersive, multi-stage ride that is unlike anything ever attempted before.
Other attractions of note inside Galaxy’s Edge include the Droid Depot, where you can build your own working droid, Oga’s Cantina, a watering hole straight out of the movies, and Savi’s Workshop, where young jedis can build their own lightsaber.
