Family Friendly Things To Do in Kiama
We're always on the lookout for great family-friendly destinations within driving distance of Sydney. A little reprieve from our often overwhelming city and some connection time with our family away from screens and distractions is just what the doctor ordered. So, we're off to Kiama!
Just a 1 hour and 50-minute drive from Sydney, Kiama is a gorgeous seaside destination on the south coast of NSW that's big on family fun. Here are our top picks for things to see and do in Kiama.
Family-Friendly Things To Do in Kiama
1. Kiama Blowhole
No doubt the attraction that springs to mind when you think of things to do in Kiama, the Kiama Blowhole is the largest in the world! From the safe distance of the viewing platform, check out the spectacular plumes of water shooting skyward, then enjoy some lunch at the nearby picnic areas or have a wade in the rock pool in the warmer weather.

2. Kiama Coastal Walk
A pathway hugging 22km of sparkling coastline, the Kiama Coastal Walk begins at Minnamurra and will take you past headlands, rivers, beaches, the town centre, the Blowhole, Little Blowhole, beaches, and bays, finishing at Werri Beach. It's such a great way to see all the natural beauty of Kiama—and trust us, there's a lot!
Location: starts at Minnamurra Train Station but there are plenty of sections you can dip in and out of.
3. Kiama Farmer's Market
Held every Wednesday at Surf Beach, Kiama Farmers Markets are held from 2-5 pm in the winter and 3-6 pm in the summer, unlike most early-morning markets. Shop with picturesque views in front of you, with the opening of the markets signalled each week by the ringing of the bell. You'll find fruits, vegetables, oysters, local beef, honey, eggs, milk, sourdough, and lots more. It's a wholesome, family-friendly way to spend an afternoon in Kiama!

4. A short drive away: Jamberoo Action Park
Just a 20-minute drive away, Jamberoo Action Park is well worth a trip during your adventures in Kiama. Rides include bobsledding, water slides, train rides, mini golf, chair lifts, inflatable tube rides and LOTS more thrilling fun. Billabong Beach is perfect for little splashers with its shallow areas and water spouts!

5. A short drive away: Illawarra Fly
Just a 30-minute drive from Kiama, adventurous families will love exploring the treetops with zip-lining experiences and treetop walks at Illawarra Fly.
