Sydney families needn't travel far for a peaceful country escape because the quaint yet sophisticated town of Berry is just a 2-hour drive away!
Nestled on the South Coast of NSW, Berry boasts rolling green hills, award-winning restaurants, heritage buildings and a whole lot more. Whether you're a family who wants to unwind, explore, adventure, taste, shop or stay a little bit longer, you can do it all in Berry.

Things to do in Berry: Visit
1. Berry Historic Museum
The Berry Historic Museum is well worth a stop-off and the perfect chance to soak up the local history. It's free of charge, and boasts an extensive collection of artefacts, memorabilia, photographs and records, and even a 'please, do touch' room for kids to get hands-on! Type on an old typewriter, check out uniforms from World War 1 and be sure to check out the kitchen, preserved in the style of an era gone by.
2. Berry Courthouse
Next on your list of things to do in Berry: the Berry Courthouse. The gardens of the Berry Courthouse is a top wedding venue, and well worth a stroll during your mini getaway. You'll see Manchurian pear trees, old Camellias, green hedges, granite pathways, fragrant blooms in the spring and stunning amber colours in the Autumn- a total feast for your senses. You'll definitely have to take a snap of the exterior face of the courthouse which is classic Greek revival architecture. Pure serenity!
3. Seven Mile Beach
If you want to breathe in some fresh coastal air while you're in Berry, look no further than the beautiful Seven Mile Beach Sand Track Walk.
Easy enough for the whole family, this level walk wanders among the forest of majestic tall blackbutt trees, before arriving in the middle of Seven Mile Beach—halfway between Gerroa and Shoalhaven Heads. Here, you can admire the golden stretch of beach stretching out in both directions. Enjoy a swim here before retracing your steps or wandering back along the beach!

1. Milkwood Bakery
If your list of things to do in Berry includes eating delicious foods then you'll want to head straight to this spot! Milkwood Bakery is the eatery that is always recommended to Berry's visitors. Here you can get delicious takeaway coffee, cakes, bread and pastries from the bakery and enjoy a bite to eat in the cosy cafe or take them home to enjoy. It really is a total experience for your senses and the perfect treat for hungry kids!
2. Great Southern Hotel
After a day of exploring and adventuring, visit Berry's iconic family pub, the Great Southern Hotel, right in the heart of town. There's a kid's playground so you can relax with a drink while they play, watch the footy, enjoy some pub fare, listen to live music and soak up the experience of a truly Aussie country pub.
3. Silos Estate
At Silos Estate, there are delicious drops of the goof stuff for mums and dads to enjoy, and alpacas for the kids! At Silos, you can taste premium wines at Cellar Door, have a gourmet meal at Silos Restaurant, say hello to the alpacas at the onsite alpaca farm, or stay the night at one of their boutique cottages.
4. The Famous Berry Donut Van
A list of things to do in Berry just isn't complete without the Berry Donut Van! For over 55 years the Famous Berry Donut Van has been perfecting their warm cinnamon donuts. The van once toured Australia, bestowing its doughy goodness across the country, but now it calls Berry its permanent home. Be sure to stop off here for a mid-adventure pick-me-up!
5. The Treat Factory & Dairy Bar
The Treat Factory & Dairy Bar in Berry is a must-visit for families! Sample some of their massive variety of handmade chocolates, smell the delicious scents of confectionery in the production stage and marvel as some of your favourite foods are made right in front of your eyes. Or, pick up a locally-made South Coast gelato! What child wouldn't be desperate for a stopover here?
Things to do in Berry: Shop
A day out in Berry just isn't complete without a little retail therapy. Boutique shopping is how it's done in Berry, with numerous boutique shops on offer around the Berry Village on Queen Street and in some lesser-known spots too! From Antique shopping to beautiful fashions and exquisite homewares are all on offer around Queen Street. Some of our favourites include Moss Nest, Few and Far, and Shady Fig.
