There's a New Hotel Room Shaped Like a Giant Poké Ball

We've seen novelty hotel rooms before, but a Poké Ball-themed one is up there with one of the kookiest! A hotel group has joined forces with sleep-tracking app Pokémon Sleep to build an entire hotel shaped like a Poké Ball, tucked into a lush forest, and honestly? We didn't have "catching Z's inside a Poké Ball" on our 2026 bingo card, but here we are.

Wait, You Can Sleep in a Giant Poké Ball?

Yes. That one. Hotel group Not A Hotel has partnered with Pokémon Sleep, the game that turns your actual sleep habits into gameplay, to build a hotel room in the literal shape of a Poké Ball, dropped into the middle of the Hokkaido wilderness. It's giving "final evolution of the sleepover," and we are fully here for it.

The Catch: You Can't Just Book It

And now for the bad news: you can't just book a room. Entry is via a special lottery, so no amount of frantic refreshing on a booking site will get you in; it's the luck of the (Poké)draw. Winners get to spend the night inside, apparently with some serious attention paid to the finer details of the sleep experience: how light enters the room, the quietness, the airflow, even the bedding selection.

The Poké Ball Hotel opens in September 2026, but the brand is keeping most of its cards close to its chest. Full campaign details, including how to actually enter the lottery, drop on 15 September 2026. We'll be watching the official Pokémon Sleep site like a hawk!
