‘Tis the season to go nuts! Pick-your-own is a family experience like no other- teach children where food comes from, enjoy the outdoors and connect with nature with one of these awesome nut-picking experiences within driving distance of Sydney.

Kookootonga Chesnut & Walnut Farm


The season is set to begin on 10 March 2018! During March and April, pick your own walnuts and chestnuts every day from 9am-4pm at this gorgeous farm nestled in the Blue Mountains. The season doesn’t last long, so make the most of it while you can. According to their website, nut picking at this farm is a highly anticipated yearly event that families just keep returning to: “At Kookootonga, some of our long time regulars are now bringing their third generation along with them!” Visit their website.

Sassafras Nuts


A 3-hour drive from Sydney, Sassafras Nuts lets you pick your own chestnuts from 24 March- 25 April 2018. Here you’ll find over 100 chestnut trees and several hundred walnut trees which you can pick and pay for by the kilogram. Just make sure you book beforehand if you are visiting - open Saturdays and Sundays.

Nutwood Farm


Found in Mount Irvine, about a 2-hour drive from Sydney. The Nutwood season in 2018 begins 10 March and will last for about 6 weeks, or until all the nuts are gone. Pick your own chestnuts and walnuts in this well-established nut orchard. Visit their website.

Campanella Cottage


In the picturesque and historic Mount Wilson (2-2.5 hour drive from Sydney) you can pick walnuts and chestnuts. Green walnuts are available from mid-December, and pick your own chestnuts and walnuts (there are over 100 walnut trees, some over 35 years old!) lasts from mid-March to mid-April. Buy some gorgeous home-made jams or plants while you’re there! Visit their website.
