Where To Cuddle A Baby Animal In Sydney

The bottom line is that 2020 has been a tough year so far. From bushfires to global pandemics and a whole lot in between, suffice to say that we all need a bit of cheering up—and what better way to put smiles on your whole family’s faces than having a damn good cuddle with a baby animal? 

Well, the good news is that there’s a whole host of places in Sydney where moments of cuddly comfort with baby animals are on the agenda. Here's where to head for some good, old-fashioned snuggles. 

Featherdale Sydney Wildlife Park

An ellaslist favourite and for good reason, Featherdale is the perfect place to get up close and personal with some of their resident babies (see hero image)! 

Check out the ‘personal’ and ’up close’ koala encounters, where you’ll meet some of Featherdale’s most adorable dwellers. The penguin, tree kangaroo and quokka encounters are also well worth a look!

Mogo Zoo

Offering a huge range of up-close and personal encounters, Mogo Wildlife Park on the South Coast is home to an epic selection of exotic animals and is a great day out for the entire family. 

Play with and snag a cuddle with one of the resident meerkats, sit with a cheeky squirrel monkey and cuddle the gorgeous soft fur of the Nepalese Red Pandas. Alternatively, check out the Primate Islands cruise, where families of Cotton Top Tamarins and Madagascan Ring-Tailed Lemurs will clamber all over you!

Calmsley Hill City Farm

Another ellaslist favourite, Calmsley Hill is home to an entire nursery of farm animals that are ready and waiting for a pat, a play and a cuddle! There’s also the opportunity to listen in on the koala talk and pat one of these adorable Aussie icons. 

And if that wasn’t enough, there’s a sheep shearing show, a working dog show, a stock whip show, tractor rides and cow milking—the perfect day out for all mini animal enthusiasts!

Symbio Zoo

Symbio Wildlife Park near Wollongong is home to some truly amazing animals—and their babies too. Their range of behind-the-scenes experiences is extensive and you’ll love getting up close with some of their residents!

Cuddle a family of red pandas, be crawled over by a family of super-interactive meerkats and enjoy the ultimate puppy playdate with the baby dingoes!

Golden Ridge Farm

Bursting with baby farm animals that are waiting for a cuddle, Golden Ridge Farm in Dural is a great destination to get up close and personal with some baby chicks, fluffy ducklings and adorable baby rabbits.

Each family session lasts around an hour, comprising 30 minutes of indoor barn activities, where you can cuddle the animals, have a go at milking a cow, play a ‘feed the pig’ game set up around the farm, have a run around with the goats and try feeding over 200 animals with every purchase of a feed bucket. There’s also the option to try a pony ride or have a go on one of the diggers in the Diggerzone!
