W Sydney Set To Finally Open This October

A project that's been in the works for a whopping five years is finally set to launch this October, as W Hotel's epic Darling Harbour development prepares to make its debut. After years of setbacks and delays, the hotel is finally on the brink of being ready to open its doors, and we'd like the minutes to show we are excited. 

W Sydney sits on the former IMAX theatre site, as part of 'The Ribbon'—a sleek as-anything multimillion-dollar development that has brought a fresh perspective to Darling Harbour. Here's what you need to know about the incoming arrival of this seriously swoon-worthy hotel.

W Sydney Concept

With a concept inspired by the direct surroundings of the harbour and Sydney itself, W Sydney has taken its design cues from the mischievous spirit of Australia's "larrikin state". The incredibly imaginative design of W Sydney is subtly imbued around every corner of the hotel; underpinned by the stereotype of what it is to be an Australian larrikin. Think: playful, nonconformist, eccentric and unexpectedly unique. 

W Sydney Features

Alongside Darling Harbour and city views for days, W Sydney is certainly not short on luxurious lifestyle offerings when it comes to its fixtures, furnishings and facilities. With an epic 585 rooms and suites in marine-soaked tones, the hotel is dripping in bespoke interiors and custom furnishings inspired by Sydney and its surroundings. 

Capturing the true essence of what it is to be a luxury lifestyle hotel, W Sydney will also feature a two-storey rooftop bar, a heated rooftop infinity pool, a spa, a gym, an all-day restaurant, a Living Room bar, 1300sqm of event space and direct access into the heart of Darling Harbour waterfront precinct as guests step out of the hotel. Phew! It really does appear to have every base covered. 

Part of what will make W Sydney such a fun vibe is the collaboration between the hotel and local musicians, artists and designers to bring a uniquely distinct and creative feel to each space. We absolutely love to see it—and you can bet your bottom dollar we'll be booking in to take a running dive onto that luxuriously plush-looking mattress...

When will W Sydney Open?
