On Saturday 18 October, it’s time to turn that cluttered wardrobe into something a whole lot more meaningful! Uber and Red Cross are teaming up once again for their seventh annual Uber x Red Cross Clothing Drive, making it easier than ever to donate quality, pre-loved clothes without leaving the house.

From those jeans you swore you’d fit back into, to that sparkly “going out” top that hasn’t seen the light of day since 2019—this is your chance to bag them up, let them go, and make a real difference.

How it Works

Between 10 am and 4 pm, Aussies in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth can book a free Uber Courier pickup through the Uber or Uber Eats app. Simply pack up your good-quality, wearable clothes, request the pickup, and Uber will whisk them straight to the Red Cross for donation.

Why It Matters

New research from Uber and Red Cross has revealed some shocking numbers: Australians are sitting on an estimated $25 billion worth of unworn clothes. That’s around 231 million garments—enough to cover 42 football fields. In NSW alone, nearly one-fifth of the average wardrobe goes unworn, valued at over $1,100 per person.

The problem? Convenience. Two-thirds of people say they’d donate more often if it were easier, while one in three admits to leaving clothes outside op shops, where they often go to waste. The Uber x Red Cross Clothing Drive solves that problem in the simplest way possible—by coming straight to your door.

Every Bag Makes a Difference

Donations collected through this initiative go directly towards Red Cross programs supporting vulnerable communities across Australia.  That means your once-loved outfits can help provide food, shelter, and support to those who need it most.

So this October, give your clothes a second life, make space in your wardrobe, and feel good knowing you’re helping people in need—all without leaving home.

The Uber x Red Cross Clothing Drive is taking place on Saturday 18 October, 10 am to 4 pm. Book your free pickup through Uber or Uber Eats.
