Where To Get Gluten Free Dumplings In Sydney

Coeliacs and gluten-sensitive peeps, you can say yum to yum cha again. These Sydney spots offer gluten free options so that no one has to miss out on all the doughy dumpling goodness.
Bodhi Restaurant Bar, Sydney
Bringing VEGAN yum cha to the table since 1988, family-owned-and-operated Bodhi offers three dumpling varieties that can be made gluten free: Sweet Japanese Pumpkin Dumplings ($9), Green Tea & Soychum Dumplings ($9), and Shitaake Mushroom with Asparagus & Truffle Oil ($11). The heart-of-the-city location isn't too shabby either, right in the middle of Cook and Philip park under St Mary's Cathedral. Head here for a colourful Yum Cha Lunch during the week (11am to 3pm Monday through Friday) and on Saturdays and Sunday from 11am to 4pm.
Green Gourmet, St Leonards and Newtown
Along with being MSG-free, this trusted vegan institution doesn't fall short on gluten free dumpling options - think Taro 'Meat' Balls and Steamed or Fried Pumpkin Cakes - as well as low-gluten options like Chia Seed Spinach Dumplings if you're gluten free but not coeliac. There's a full range Yum Cha Lunch on weekends, and you can get your dumplings cooked to order on weekdays. Heads up that this spot is alcohol-free.
Royal Albert Hotel, Surry Hills
Cheers to the Royal Albert for not charging extra for the gluten free dumplings! Once home to $1 Dumplings, head to this unassuming joint for the Bamboo Dumpling Menu, complete with a handful of gluten free classic Gow Gee Dumpling options ($12.50 for a plate of five) - Mushroom, Vegetarian or Prawn. You'd never know these tasty morsels are gluten free, down to the dipping sauce.
Dumplings & Beer, Potts Point and Darlinghurst
So much yes to the handmade Gluten Free Steamed Dumpling Menu at Dumplings & Beer. Along with the Gow Gee classics, make sure to try the gluten free dumpling House Specials: Steamed Chicken & Mushroom and Mild Beef Curry, perhaps washed down with some Jasmine tea traditional-style.
Lotus Dumpling Bar, Dawes Point
One to save for a date night or post-theatre meal, rustic-chic Lotus Dumpling Bar hasn't forgotten about its gluten free diners; the Jade Prawn Dumplings ($15), Scallop & Vegetable Shu Mai ($14) and Mixed Mushroom Dumplings ($13) are ALL gluten free - and some of the other menu items can be made gluten free on request. This place gets PACKED post-theatre so it's worth making a booking for your gluten free feed.
