A New ❛Grand❜ Playground is Coming to Grand Central Tarneit

We've said it once, and we'll say it again, we just love new playgrounds at ellaslist! And we're pretty sure that if you're a parent who's taken the kids to your local playgrounds a few million times over, you love hearing about new playgrounds too.

The latest cab off the rank of cool new playgrounds in Melbourne is Stockland Grand Central Park. The new all-abilities playground is a combined project between one of Australia's largest property groups and the community, so we're expecting pretty big things and something tells us we're not going to be disappointed with this one!

Designs Revealed for a New 'Grand' Playground at Grand Central Tarneit

The suburb of Tarneit is just 30 kilometres from the Melbourne CBD and will soon be home to a thriving, purpose-built community known as Grand Central Tarneit.

Built by Stockland, one of Australia’s largest property groups, Grand Central Tarneit gives Melbourne families the chance to build their dream home in a dream location with the added benefit of an active lifestyle thanks to plenty of green open spaces and a fantastic new community playground.

Grand Central Park is the new community playground that's set to make Grand Central Tarneit even more appealing to Melbourne families. Designed in consultation with the community, Grand Central Park will be an all-inclusive playspace suited to kids of all ages, even adults.

Features of Grand Central Park

According to Stockland Project Director, Ed Krushka, "Our parks and play spaces are an integral part of our communities and they provide an opportunity for residents to interact with one another and enjoy a healthy and active outdoor lifestyle."

When consulting the community about what features they'd love most in a new community park, a playground, walking paths, and a pavilion with seating areas were the top three winners. These features plus plenty more have been revealed in the new design of Grand Central Park.

The new community park will feature a large open green space for community activities, a basketball half-court and main central pavilion with plenty of seating. Inclusive elements of the playground include cantilever and omni swings, an interactive blue tongue lizard art installation, nature play items such as logs and rocks, a multi-level climbing tower with slides at different heights, a spinner, climbing poles, pull-up bars and a range of swings.

Plus (and we think this part is pretty cool!), for those who work from home, the park will include outdoor work pods with seating, a shelter, and power and USB charging points!

Grand Central Park Opening Date

Construction of Grand Central Park is set to commence in August 2022 with an opening date still to come - watch this space!
